Dr. Crisp: Working Together

Healing happens when your story is heard, your needs are honored, and your path is truly your own.

My special talent as a physician is being able to connect with you and to ask the right questions so I can learn your whole story and be an effective detective. I tend to see patients that say “no other doctor has been able to help, so I am giving you a try.”

If you have ever felt something like this:

“I have been to so many doctors and specialists, and no one thinks there is anything wrong”

You are in the right place.

I will listen to you, I will believe you, and I will learn your story.

I am relentless in my search to find the root cause of what has brought you to your current state of being. If I am not able to help, I will search my amazing referral network for someone that can.

Finding the Best Place to Start

I have never written the same treatment plan twice. You as an individual will have unique needs, as well as a unique timeline of events both past and future, that need to be taken into account when we develop your treatment plan.

For example, if you are not much of a cook or don’t have access to certain types of foods for any reason, I will not prescribe you a special diet. This will not work for you as an individual due to these limitations around food and must be considered for your individualized plan.

If you are not able to do specialized labs or purchase supplements or herbs that I think will be beneficial for your treatment, I need to take this into consideration and stick with treatments and labs that are covered by insurance.

Sometimes people present to my office with many issues affecting most parts of their body. If I learn during your visit that your pelvic and reproductive issues all began after a trauma in that area of your body, but you don’t currently have the energy or emotional space to address this deep wound, then we will begin your treatment plan elsewhere. We’ll return to this when you have the time, space, and emotional support team in place to address this.

What might our first session look like?

Depending on your needs, we might start your healing in a variety of ways.

  • If you have digestive problems:

      • We might start with diet changes, lab work, and visceral manipulation to get your symptoms under control first.

      • We may start with teaching you breathing exercises to activate your vagus nerve so you can digest properly, order a food sensitivity panel, and refer you to a provider to treat your abdominal adhesions.

  • If you are experiencing chronic pain or headaches, we may start with assessing your physical body and posture, do some bodywork to the effected area, order imaging, and start supplemental nutrients.

  • If you are suffering from emotional pain, we might go straight into the source of this with counseling and prescribing an individualized botanical medicine formula. You may also be a candidate for healing with ketamine or psilocybin, both of which Dr. Crisp is licensed and trained in.

Tools & Techniques You Can Use Yourself

One of my favorite parts of this work is teaching. I love teaching people how their body works and empowering them to fully understand why I recommend certain practices so that they can continue to heal themselves long after our visits.

I also love teaching people how to connect with their food and with the earth. This is a one of the reasons naturopathic medicine is so sustainable and self-sufficient; people can incorporate ways to heal themselves by bringing healing into something they are already doing several times a day, such as eating.
